Happy 43rd Birthday Singapore!
Day 2 in Melbourne and we went to Chinatown for
yum cha at Shark Fin House.
Shark Fin House may look like any other run-down 4 storey building BUT the food was impeccable!

The har kow was super fresh, the sharks' fin dumplings were juicy, the siew mai was unusually yummy too!

Suckling PIG! LOL it was good! Nice and CRUNCHY skin! yumssssss!

This is like my FAV! Steamed Prawn Rice Rolls!
Fresh as anything! *slurps!*
Last but not least, we have DESSERTS!

Egg tarts that mummy swears by!

Honeydew Sago
Its not really honeydew that they use but rockmelons. Yea it's just semantics but this method of preparation was a nice surprise. It really gave the dish depth for the sweetness was also from the rockmelon itself and not sugar.

Mango Pudding
This is a pretty Australianised dessert. However, this was the best I've ever had. It tasted like a whole mango was pureed and then made into this one dish!
YUP! I was mango-fied!

How could we not have tao huey?!!
The tao huey in yum cha restaurants are unlike those in Singapore. These are really smooth and silky but Shark Fin House's was by far the most delicate I've ever had.
After all that eating, we decided to walk it off and of cos, look for the 'Singaporean' restaurant, TomTom...
We window shopped a few streets before coming across an eatery "Claypot King"! WOW! The pics do look good! So we decided that we would have dinner there that night :) Yup, this was just after
yum cha! I Love Holidays!
We pretty much walked all around Chinatown by now when mummy finally proclaimed...
mummy: there it is! CHOM CHOM!
me: u said TOMTOM!
mummy: same lah! i remember got OM OM!
me: -_- same meh?
So yea... Chom Chom we went! OMG LAR! There got mee hoon kueh, got chwee kueh got alot of stuff la! OMG -__-"
We decided that we would ta-bao some for supper :) So walkies again we went!

Heavenly chwee kueh la!
It may seem like nothing much. U may think "siao char bor. chwee kueh nia ma!" Hey! We take for granted those things which are too convenient and too accessible ok?
It's hard to get homemade food here in Aussie much less authentic versions!
Mummy is love!
Thanks mummy for the trip, accomodations and food! Oh! My dress too! muacks!
